How do you choose a size?

Choose a similar piece you feel comfortable in. The measurement helps prepare a comparison with a real manufacturer's chart.

  1. Room for a layer

    Choose a well-fitting outer garment worn over a similar layer. Fasten it and measure the underarm width flat.

  2. Shoulders and sleeves

    Measure between the shoulder seams and from the sleeve seam to its edge. Notice whether the shoulder is dropped.

  3. Length

    Run the tape from the shoulder near the neck to the hem. Also check freedom of movement in the garment you are comparing.

When the chart describes the body

Measure the chest without tightening the tape. Layering ease depends on the cut and brand's chart; do not automatically add a few centimetres to a size label.

There is no real measurement chart or automatic recommendation here. The steps above help prepare measurements; they cannot confirm a fit for a fictional product.
